We are delighted to announce record GCSE results, some of the best in our 115 year history.
In a year that has seen huge change in the examination system and intense pressure on young people, 84% of our Year 11 students achieved Grades 4 to 9 in both English and Mathematics, with 65% achieving both at grade 5 and above! The achievement of these grades represents a phenomenal performance by the girls.
Overall, 81% of students achieved Grades 4 to 9 in English and Maths and at least three other subjects at grade 4 or above. This equates to the previous main government benchmark of 5 A* to C grades including English and Maths
I am absolutely thrilled with these results and so proud of our students. They met the challenge of these new exams with focus and determination and worked incredibly hard. This success is well deserved. Our students have been well supported by their families, our teachers and our support staff, and amongst the joy and celebrations today students have been expressing their thanks. I look forward to them continuing this great success into the sixth form.
All in all, It has been another superb year for exam results at St Saviour’s & St Olave’s. These wonderful GCSEs followed last week’s terrific set of A level results, which saw students gaining places at a wide variety of top-flight institutions, including Oxbridge and other Russell group universities, to read medicine, architecture, law and arts amongst others.
