Library Facilities

Resources

The library holds a collection of over 13,500 books, including both fiction and non-fiction. A diverse selection of magazines and newspapers is also available to support the curriculum and engage students' interests.

  • Non-Fiction books are organised using the Dewey Decimal Classification system, with a dedicated Sixth Form section.

  • Careers Section: The careers section offers a range of leaflets, books, college and university prospectuses, and access to specialist career websites. 
  • Fiction is categorised as follows:

General Fiction and Senior Fiction (for Year 9 and above), both organised by the first three letters of the author's last name in alphabetical order.

Quick Reads a collection of accessible books designed for Year 7 students, reluctant readers, and those with special educational needs.

Fiction Book Categories & Their Spine Colours:

Students can search the library catalogue by author, title, or keyword. Library staff and Student Library Assistants are always available to help.

  • Newspapersmagazines and Resource files supplementary material for research and reading.

 

  • A photocopier is available for student use, with a complimentary monthly credit allocated to each student’s account.
  • Sales

The library sells a basic range of stationery. New books can be purchased through book magazines, and two book sales are held annually.

  • Computers and laptops with internet access are on the school network and available for student use.
  • The library provides a scanner and a colour printer/photocopier.
  • There are 27 iPads available for use in the library and for loan to teachers for class activities.
