Enrichment / Extra-Curricular

Extra-Curricular Activities in MFL

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities in the MFL department, designed to enhance students' learning and cultural awareness. Our aim is to provide students with opportunities to engage with languages and cultures outside the classroom, and we subsidise trips to ensure everyone can participate.

Key activities include:

  • Trips abroad: Visits to France and Spain in Y10, where students immerse themselves in the language and culture; a trip abroad at KS5.
  • Language workshops during Foreign Languages Week.
  • Cultural events: Participation in Black History Month, LGBTQ+ Week, and Foreign Languages Week, focusing on inclusivity, anti-racism, and cultural awareness.
  • Theatre and cinema trips: Opportunities to see live performances in French and Spanish for A Level students, enriching students’ understanding of language and culture.
  • Dance workshops: Traditional French and Spanish dance workshops for Key Stage 3 students.
  • Native Speaker Club: A chance for students whose first language is French or Spanish to develop confidence in their cultural heritage and language skills.
